Dish-creative cuisine in Palm Springs round two

We tried this place for brunch on my birthday in March–the purple steamy fizzy drink place…well we tried it for dinner tonight and it was great!

For the summer they have a prix fixe with many gluten free options

Plus they randomly bring out amuse-bouche throughout the meal.

Instead of bread to nosh while perusing the menu, its hot donuts!  Savory donuts in this case flavored with sage.

Amuse-bouche number 1—a soda that tastes exactly like bloody mary with no alcohol

Amuse-bouche 2–a bite of ceviche with corn, avocado mousse

We each had the Compressed Watermelon –watermelon, baby heirloom tomatoes, feta crumbles, balsamic pearls, pistachio dist, basil granita

A little late, but our cocktails arrived and our server, Spencer, graciously made the untimely delivery completely forgivable.  On the left, Jims brown butter and maple rye, and on the right my Bulleit Bourbon with cherry and campari, and citrus, and bitters.

Next up finds us another amuse-bouche..#3.. A small zuchini fritter with a dill cream

Amuse-bouche 4:  a tiny almond flour muffin with sun dried tomato tapenade

Amuse-bouche 5: grapefruit sorbet

Entrees:

Pasta of the day–shrimp ravioli for me

And a crab stuffed poblano for jim

Amuse-bouche 6: a small push up pop orange and vanilla—very much like a creamcicle

Dessert was crackerjack sundae for jim which has little flecks of brittle in additon to carmel corn and the gelato

And i had a rootbeer float with markers mark in it

We will probably have to return here!

Monday–omelettes

Omelettes…thats what they used as a substitute in the absence of anything gluten free in france.

I had some leftover ratatouille and left over tomato-cannelini sauce so i threw them together for the side.

The leftovers:

The salad’s mise en place

Gonna let it marinate with thyme, olive oil, and vienegar

At serving it just gets tossed onto the lettuce bed

The omelette’s mise ( it was two eggs each omelette with a splash of olive oil and a tablespoon if sour cream) including garlic scapes and fresh basil:

Throw the beany mixture on the side and voila!  My power burner is a little too much on the le creuset pans for an omelette..thus the darkness but it still tasted lovely…basil chiffonade and garlic scapes in it and on top

Of course a south of France rose…

Plus some olives to nosh and dinner is made!

1/9 food finds

while at the farmers market and out and about we found a few fun things to try or think about trying.

Root veggies are the spotlight at the farmers market this week

I bought some pretty pink and blue potatoes…these are colored clear through so they lose their color less than those with just a colored skin

It’s been cold so the avocado su ply train is getting a bit week.

Tiny iceberg lettuces!

Assorted cute little lettuces

And a Penzeys trip

My penzeys haul this week… The Turkish oregano was free (coupon)

Macaron for Jim at lemonade

Buffalo milk butter at whole foods

Cognac barrels!  I already have the bourbon barrel version at home waiting to be savored

Needed to try my Singapore spice from penzeys so made a sort of Singapore noodle

And some tofu lettuce cups
